What are the benefits of Sage Tincture?

Historically, Sage (also known as salvia officinalis) was used in ancient Rome and was seen as important for treating ulcers, soothing a sore throat and helping to digest fatty meats that were popular at the time. In 1500 BC, Sage was used as a popular remedy for itching and as a tonic for women when they were menstruating.

Today, Sage is used where women are experiencing menopausal symptoms (also known as perimenopausal symptoms) such as hot flashes, night sweats and excessive sweating. The Wellness Practitioner Sage Tincture can be taken daily for short periods of time.

What is Sage?

Sage is a herb that is part of the mint Lamiaceae family and is native to the Mediterranean region. This herb has oval leaves that are rough and ranges from grey to green in colour. Sage gets its name from the Latin word “salvere” which means “to be saved”.

Why does this Sage Tincture contain alcohol?

Alcohol is used as it is an excellent solvent for extracting herbal medicines. The amount of alcohol used in this herbal tincture is small and therefore does not have any intoxicating effects.

All of The Wellness Practitioner range of herbal remedies and nutritional supplements have been tested for safety and quality independently.

Who could benefit from taking this Sage Tincture?

Women experiencing uncomfortable symptoms due to being perimenopausal which is the part of the menopausal transition where most symptoms are experienced. This information on Sage is based on traditional use only.
