Did you know that acidity can have a major impact on your health? If you are consuming an acidic diet, it’s crucial to take the steps to reduce these foods and add more alkaline promoting foods in your diet. Taking these steps now could prevent long-term health complications.
Here are some of the short-term as well as long-term effects of having an acidic body:
- Frequent colds
The acid-alkaline balance is more important than you may think. Proper pH balance helps protect us on both the inside out. With an imbalance, pathogenic organisms have the ability to flourish, and the immune system can become compromised. Here are some tips to help better manage your pH.
Tip #1: Eliminate Artificial Sweeteners
These sweeteners are acidic and downright dangerous for your health. Eliminate all artificial sweeteners and choose more natural options instead such as raw honey and pure maple syrup. (In moderation)
Tip #2: Reduce Conventionally Raised Animal Products
Conventionally fed animal products are often pumped with hormones, antibiotics, and steroids which can cause inflammation and acidity. When it comes to animal products, opt for grass-fed and organic whenever possible.
Tip #3: Increase Your Fiber Intake
Fiber is an important part of a healthy diet and can help the digestive system move toxins out of the body. Try increasing your fiber intake by enjoying plant-based foods such as green leafy vegetables, beans, lentils, and fresh fruit.
